Matthew 5:44 KJV (Capitals are mine for emphasis)

THEY CARRY "A CRITICAL SPIRIT" WHEREVER THEY GO

I don't know about you, but negative people "bug" me. It's like "a contagious disease". I don't like to be around them for too long, as they are depressing, and if one is not careful, they will bring you down to their level of low-living. They carry "a critical spirit" wherever they go. Recently I heard one preacher say, "If you are always changing churches, and everyone of them stinks, smell yourself, as it is probably you who is carrying the stink".

"THE GREATEST POWER IN THE WORLD: LOVE"

There is absolutely no way in the flesh that we can sincerely love our enemies. Only God's love through us can accomplish this awesome command given by Jesus Himself. Down through the centuries, one religion has spread around the world through "the power of the sword". We like to say that Christianity has been spread across nations through "the greatest power in the world: love". Sadly, this has not always been the case, but this is ideally how it is suppose to work.

IT IS LIKE "A BOOMERANG"

Why should we bless those who curse us? The answer is simple. It is like "a boomerang". If those who delight in cursing us receive the blessing, we have gained a friend. If they do not, then the blessing we have sent will come back to us. If we speak cursing against those who have cursed us, then when they do not receive it, the curse we have spoken will make a u-turn, and come right back to us.

TWO WRONGS DO NOT MAKE A RIGHT. RETRIBUTION BELONGS TO GOD. VENGEANCE IS HIS; NOT OURS

What is the purpose of doing good to those who hate us? If we allow that hatred to "get under our skin", it will fester, and poison our entire system. Letting such a spirit, which is the exact opposite of love, to transfer itself into our spirit, will eventually permeate everything we say, and influence all of our actions in a negative way. Two wrongs do not make a right. Retribution belongs to God. Vengeance is His; not ours. God does not want us to "get down in the gutter and fight dirty" like those who aim weapons of hatred toward us. Let us do good to them, and we will not be sorry later, as goodness will triumph over hatred.

WHY DOES GOD ALLOW THEM TO ENTER OUR LIVES?

It is like "an automatic reaction of the flesh" which responds negatively to those who despitefully use us, and outright persecute us for our beliefs. Why does God allow them to enter our lives? It is so that we can learn about a life filled with loving, blessing, doing good and praying. Isn't it better than going through the rest of our lives hating, cursing, doing evil and being caught up lashing out at those who do not espouse our same values?

IT DOES MORE HARM TO US THAN THE ONES WE ARE CONSTANTLY POINTING OUT THEIR FAULTS AND FAILURES

I have come up with a new rule for myself. It is "praying twice as long for my enemies than the time it takes to criticize them". Negative outbursts, laced with "self-righteous hatred", will eventually eat away at us like a malignant tumor. It does more harm to us than the ones we are constantly pointing out their faults and failures. We may or may not like the policies of the President, Prime Minister, Governor or Mayor, but it will be far more profitable if we pray for them, and believe the Lord to change them for the better.

"A PRAYER REVIVAL" WILL DO FAR MORE THAN ENGAGING IN THE TACTICS OF THE FLESH

The love of God bathed in prayer, doing good and sending out blessing will be far more effective and powerful than "flapping our jaws" about politicians and their policies which we do not like. What kind of positive and godly changes would we see if all those who name the name of Jesus would "pray for those who have the rule over us"--as the Scripture instructs us to do--instead of engaging in character assassination? "A prayer revival" will do far more than engaging in the tactics of the flesh.

CTK Kenya on Google maps

Search on Google maps

CTK Kenya

Placement on map is approximate
Kamunde Road, Kariobangi North, P.o. DO YOU? Campaign
________________________________________
CHRIST THE KING COMMUNNITY CHURCH
SIAYA KENYA

Introduction:
Christ the King Community Church- CTK situated in Siaya Kenya has operated for one year since her inception. The church is situated to one of the under developed Districts in Kenya. The church is at its growing state, and God is favoring the ministry with committed church members who have taken initiative of reaching those in distress with the word of God through home bible fellowship.

Problem Statement:

Through the community bible fellowship out in one of the remote areas of Siaya district, where the CTK church is situated discovered that majority of orphans and vulnerable children, elderly widows and widowers are affected with jiggers which have affected them greatly to the extend that some are turning to be mentally ill.

The church took a step to conduct a survey on why these category of people are not being helped by the able community members, it was discovered that the community members believes that jiggers is a curse and to avoid such curses is by keeping away from such people who already assumed to be curse. Another issue was cultural belief associated with death. These categories of people have lost other special people in their lives i.e. children have lost their parents, wives have lost their husbands and husbands have lost their wives. In our society these people seen culturally to be unclean because they have not passed through some rituals for cleansing. All these beliefs have made the lives of orphans, elderly widows and widowers more miserable because every community members have their own reason why they can’t intervene.

Justification:

CTK as a community church was challenged by this problem our vulnerable community women, men and children are facing just because there is no body to help them. CTK felt that this is a call to serve God be giving these people hope. On that reason, the CTK Siaya Church launched a campaign to eradicate jiggers in “lwala kawour location” the community where jiggers out are affecting the lives of vulnerable community members. I CARE DO YOU? Campaign is the CTK initiative to help the church mobilize resource to help in responding to this challenge of jiggers attack our vulnerable brothers and sisters are facing.

Intervention strategy:

CTK has started mobilizing resource to help in this campaign. And the church is calling for well wishers and the CTK family to help the Siaya church reach these our brothers and sisters who are in great need.
CTK CARE DO YOU? Campaign activity

CTK I CARE DO YOU? Campaign will has started cleaning project on those who are affected by jiggers. The campaign is cleaning their infected bodies plus their houses. The campaign is targeting a location with more than 120 household affected by the jiggers.
The CTK Siaya church has discovered that drugs to be used for this cleaning exercise cost 20 US dollar each. In the last year,CTK has expanded into five major regions namely Western, Nyanza, Nairobi, Rift Valley and Coast provonces. These regions are represented by the following leaders:
Nairobi - Austin Oyula
Coast - John Gitile
Nyanza - Zacheus Otieno
Western - Salim Shaban
Rift Valley - Goerge Makoha

These leaders are deployed to oversee the growth of small groups, training of group leaders and the development of worship centres. The Rift valley region is the oldest CTK in kenya, and has a worship centre in Kipsainia, near Kitale town.
The entry of Pastor Zacheus and his congregation has also given us another worship centre in Siaya town of Nyanza region. Nairobi is praparing to launch a worship centre this year.

More About Kenya

FAST FACTS
Population: 37,953,838 (July 2008 estimates.)

Capital: Nairobi

Area (comparative): slightly more than twice the size of Nevada

Climate: tropical along coast, arid interior

Religion: 45% Protestant; 33% Roman Catholic; 10% indigenous beliefs; 10% Muslim

Languages: English is official; Swahili (Kiswahili) is the national language; each of the 40 different ethnic groups has its own language

Literacy: 85.1% of those 15 years and older can read and write (USA = 99%)

Infant mortality rate: 56.01 deaths/1,000 live births (USA = 6.3)

Life expectancy at birth: 56.64 years
(USA = 78.14 years)

Kenya, in East Africa, is a country of beautiful coastlines, arid plains and fertile highlands. Eighty-five percent of the Kenyan population resides in the central highlands, which make up one of the most fruitful agricultural regions in Africa.
Kenya is known for its exotic birds and abundant wildlife, including big-game animals, which are found in Kenya’s many nature reserves. The Indian Ocean coastline and its exotic wildlife have made Kenya a popular tourist destination, with tourism accounting for a large part of the country’s gross domestic product.
Three-fourths of the people live in rural areas, and most people are dependent on agriculture. However, the economy is reasonably diversified, including the manufacture of small-scale consumer goods.

Kenya has long been known to be a country of relative political stability since its independence in 1964. Although the country experienced devastating violence and upheaval following the elections in December 2007, people have worked hard to stabilize the country and renew a sense of peace. Endemic corruption and low commodity prices in the world market pose major obstacles to economic development.
Although Kenya has experienced some successes in its economic and educational systems in the past decade, high unemployment, poverty and diseases such as HIV/AIDS and malaria remain serious problems. Widespread HIV/AIDS infection has caused Kenya’s death rate to soar.

The people
The majority of Kenya’s population is made up of indigenous Africans who belong to about 40 different ethnic groups. Each group has its own language and traditional way of life. Mainstream Kenyan culture is influenced by Asia, Europe and other parts of Africa.
Kenyans place a high value on large families, and have historically had many children to help with farm work. The traditional extended family system creates close-knit communities, especially in the rural areas. Farmers work very hard but still make time for social interaction with their neighbors, often expressed in communal music and dancing. Village and town markets are vibrant centers for communication and social life.
Small farm settlements dot the rural areas, where many families struggle just to produce enough food for survival. Most rural dwellers live in small houses with thatched roofs, earthen floors and walls made of mud bricks.

Education
The 2002 presidential election in Kenya brought about significant changes in the educational system. The first act of the newly-elected president was to declare universal free education in the public schools at the primary level. While school administrators have made efforts to address the flood of students into the primary schools, overcrowding remains an issue.
Primary and secondary school children in Kenya attend school from January to December, and institutions of higher education are generally in session from September to July.
The Kenyan government pays the salaries of teachers in all registered schools throughout the country. However, all other costs associated with running a school are the burden of the parents. Officially, primary education is free, but there are many other school-related expenses to cover additional and incidental expenses, including notebooks, uniforms and other costs.
Most parents value education and see it as the key to a better life for their children, but the cost of education is often more than families can afford. Secondary tuition is exceptionally high, and only about one-quarter of students advance to the secondary level.

To support the CTK work in kenya visit the website www.ctkonline.com

Day 2 : The structure of a small group

Day two in Bungoma leaders conference.
Small Groups are formed and they go through the process finalising with prayers for the empty chair

The Bungoma follow up meeting, partially financed by funds from the Friday Harbor Church and and the CTK Central servisces was a wonder and agreat success. Here we find five basic purposes ;
1. Loving God
2. Serving Others
3. Discipleship- developing new leaders
4. Evangelism
5. Fellowship
The greatest challenge was to answer the question of whether a polygamist wife/ husband can lead a small group. I realized that people spend more time on minor issues while many people are suffering in bondage.

The lord is interested in finding the lost

One of the biggest obstacles facing native missionaries

During Pastor Austins visit to Siaya town in Nyanza province of Kenya, he noticed that the local men of God who have been called to reach the unreached/unchurched people in their communities face the same challenges that have been highlighted by this article from Christian Aid newsletter. Austin felt it was good to publish this item so that those who can read will have items to commit in prayer as the Lord Jesus leads ...

A well given in the name of Jesus often opens up a door to the gospel in a village.

Every day native gospel workers in poorer countries face opposition on many fronts. Very often they are persecuted by hostile authorities, religious extremists, or even family and friends.

However, one of the biggest obstacles for many of these humble servants is a lack of resources to purchase ministry tools needed to make their evangelistic efforts more effective. Bicycles, Bibles, medicines, sound equipment, horses, loudspeakers, and training, are just a few of the items many native missionaries are lacking in their outreach.
BIBLES AND GOSPEL LITERATURE in native dialects are not only needed for evangelism, but also for personal study and discipleship of new believers. A LOUDSPEAKER is useful for preaching in rural villages, on street corners, or mounted on vans, as native missionaries travel from town to town to reach thousands with the gospel. TRAINING is an ongoing vital need for indigenous ministries, as they seek to prepare more workers to be sent to the field. Once a native missionary establishes a body of believers in a village, he needs help to provide these new Christians with a simple MEETING PLACE, which becomes a beacon of light in the community.

A bicycle or a motorcycle can significantly shorten travel time and enable missionaries to spend more time sharing the gospel.

Native missionaries have dedicated their lives to bring the gospel to people who have never heard the name of Christ. Often, these villages are many miles apart. For the native missionary on foot, reaching these villages may take several days. A BICYCLE OR A MOTORCYCLE can significantly shorten travel time and enable these workers to spend more time sharing the gospel. In thick jungles and steep mountainous regions, a Donkey is the only suitable means of transportation for native missionaries trying to reach remote people groups. BOATS are especially crucial for native missionaries who reach island villages, like those in the Lake Victoria, as well as those who visit villages along riverbanks.

Native missionaries who have the means to drill a WELL and provide an entire village with clean water demonstrate Christ’s love and are welcomed into the villagers’ homes and hearts. GOATS are lifesavers to poor families struggling to survive. These animals reproduce and provide milk, which supplies families with a means of support. Native missionaries who share this kindness with a family open the door to further communication and eventual sharing of the gospel. MEDICAL CARE is not an option for poor villagers living in rural areas. Many sicknesses could be cured with simple antibiotics contained in medical kits that native missionaries bring with them. Without an alternative means of livelihood, many destitute women turn to prostitution as a means to survive. Several indigenous ministries assisted by Christian Aid rescue these women from the streets, provide them with shelter and teach them a vocational skill, like SEWING.

Medical care is not an option for poor villagers living in rural areas. Many sicknesses could be cured with simple antibiotics contained in medical kits that native missionaries bring with them.

Many indigenous ministries have opened shelters for homeless or orphaned children. They meet each child’s individual needs, while providing a loving environment to teach the truths of the Bible. Through Christian Aid’s child SPONSORSHIP program each sponsor will receive the name and photograph of a child and information about the ministry which cares for him/her. Thousands of poor, abandoned or homeless children rarely get the proper nutrition they need. Several ministries provide a balanced meal once a day for as many children as their resources allow. Many children come dressed in tattered clothing. A pair of shoes and clean shirts, pants, dresses and coats are greatly needed, as are simple hygiene kits with soap, toothbrush, towel, brush, comb, sandals, etc.
What better way to celebrate Christ’s birth than to equip a native missionary to take the gospel to people who have never heard it? As we prepare for the followup meetings in Bungoma town, Western Kenya, we have purposed to send the missioneries some christmas gifts. A PA system would be a great idea. We will also carry clothes, sanitary packets, soap and food stuffs to the mission ground to bless our needy leaders in small groups that are forming just to demonstrate the Love of God.
